Highest Qualified. Canine. Advice
1 to 1 is extremely popular. It works! You're committed to helping your dog and and we'll provide you with all the support you need.
We want you to succeed and nothing gives us greater pleasure than to meet you in the park and see that success first hand - Brilliant......job done!
The advice you receive at Perfect Pawz! has a sound scientific basis & utilizes the very latest contemporary thinking and modern techniques.
We don't care for outdated 'mumbo jumbo', we see your dog as an equal partner who should be respected, not bullied or dominated. We won't be using aversives or language such as 'alpha/pack leader/top dog'....they're simply completely irrelevant and discredited. You will receive current, highly skilled and knowledgable advice that works and allows your dog to progress in the way you want - happily.
We want your dog to learn and have fun.
At a 1 to 1 session, sometimes things are a little tense - you may be worried about how your dog may behave, what may happen etc. Please don't be. I always say to owners 'everyone thinks their dog is the worst ever!' & he/she rarely is, but if that's the case, well we'll deal with it!
I always try to make everything calm and relaxed because I know in some instances owners are pretty stressed & this transmits to the dog. If we can look for the positive in every situation, however hard that might seem, then that really creates an uplifting first session. It's great when people say 'I feel better already' after session one - it's a step in the right direction. It's a matter of working closely together, if somethings not working, we'll change it, there's never a one size fits all plan. Eventually we'll get there.

Part of the benefit of choosing Perfect Pawz! is that we never ever have a one size fits all plan for every dog - no dog is ever the same! That comes from having the superior knowledge to know how to treat each behavioural issue and understand the motivation behind it.
We never use force, bullying tactics or aversives (spray cans, water, shock, electric, prong collars etc.) these do nothing but add fear, startle or pain.
We only use positive and kind methods.

Currently anybody can provide you with behavioural or training advice - dog training and behaviour is totally unregulated, so it's a bit like going to an unqualified dentist or dr! The result is that many unregulated/unqualified sources provide hopelessly outdated, wrong & dangerous advice - we know, we see it.
Fortunately there are now moves to regulate training & behaviour & you can read more about this
The only way to guarantee receiving the highest qualified, contemporary and caring advice promoting positive methods is to get help from an Accredited Behaviourist (APBTC, IAABC, INTO Dogs etc.) member + higher degree specialism in animal behaviour.
We will of course advise you when we first meet as it is virtually impossible to say without first meeting you and your dog how many sessions your dog will require.
As an example, 6 sessions will always be suggested for:
Cases of reactivity (dog/dog or dog/people)
Fear based issues that are treated outside a clinical setting (i.e. non-Behaviour Practice referrals)
Well rehearsed behaviour
Behaviour that is particularly severe
